Abstract

Ronald Coase-ról a közgazdászoknak általában a tranzakciós és a társadalmi költségek kérdésköre, a tulajdonjogok és az intézmények fontosságának a felismerése vagy a Coase-tétel jut eszébe. Kicsit közelebbről vizsgálva életművét, felsejlik, hogy mindezek mögött a gazdaság egy jelentős szeletének, a közszolgáltatásoknak a folyamatos, részletes jogi és gazdaságtörténeti elemzése áll, ezekből vonta le azokat a következtetéseket, amelyek ma a jog és közgazdaságtan vagy az új intézményi közgazdaságtan előterében állnak.
