Abstract

en este trabajo aplicamos un sencillo indicador no estocástico de sostenibilidad de la deuda pública, aplicándolo al caso de las principales economías europeas. Dicho indicador compara la evolución del déficit primario realmente ejecutado con el que se requeriría para estabilizar en nivel de endeudamiento público. Nuestra conclusión es que los países intervenidos (Grecia, España, Portugal, Chipre, Irlanda) no han logrado, pese a las dolorosas reformas y ajustes presupuestarios, retornar a una senda de estabilidad financiera. Nuevos países pueden sumarse a esta lista (probablemente, Hungría, Eslovenia e Italia…) El abandono del euro, la reforma del BCE y la puesta en marcha de políticas de estímulo son opciones cada vez más factibles.
