Car-sharing vs bike-sharing: A choice experiment to understand young people behaviour

Abstract

•Car sharing is appealing, above taxi and transit, whereas bicycle sharing is mostly chosen due to cost reasons, even by young people.•Station-based electrical car sharing concept is directionally preferred to free-floating gasoline car concept.•Car and bicycle sharing would attract mostly different users.•Car sharing supporters are more environmentally concerned than bicycle sharing enthusiasts.
