Continuance intention to use self-delivery boxes: An empirical study in Tianjin, China

Abstract

Self-delivery boxes reduce delivery and pick-up costs significantly, and are helpful for alleviating the “last mile delivery†problem. The goal of the current research is to examine continuance intention to use self-delivery boxes from three aspects (e.g. consumer, courier, and self-delivery box). Based on survey data from 279 Tianjin residents, in this study, we found that time pressure, perceived behavioral control, and self-delivery box reliability significantly affected continuance intention regarding self-delivery boxes. Also, we explored the effect of consumer group on continuance intention to use self-delivery boxes and found that younger consumers had a higher continuance intention to use them than older consumers. This study provides practical implications for self-delivery box operators.
