Abstract

Based on data from Chinese A-share listed companies between 2009 and 2023, this study examines the impact and underlying mechanisms of the digital platform economy and financing constraints on labor market development. The results indicate that the digital platform economy significantly promotes labor market development, while financing constraints have a negative effect. Further analysis reveals that financing constraints significantly and negatively moderate the relationship between the digital platform economy and labor market development, especially for firms facing higher financing constraints. Moreover, institutional ownership structure also exhibits a heterogeneous moderating effect in this process.
