Digital business model innovation and operational efficiency

Abstract

This article systematically studies the impact mechanism of digital business model innovation on the operational efficiency of enterprises based on panel data from Chinese companies between 2014 and 2023. Empirical results show that digital business model innovation significantly enhances the production and operational efficiency of enterprises. This paper further explores the mediating effect of digital finance in this process, finding that digital finance plays a partial mediating role in the pathway through which digital business model innovation influences production and operational efficiency. The mediating effect of digital finance exhibits heterogeneity across regions with varying levels of infrastructure development. The conclusions of this study provide theoretical support and empirical evidence for promoting the development of the digital economy, enhancing enterprise operational efficiency, and optimizing regional policies.
