Environmental pollution, green finance, and enterprise growth based on the environmental Kuznets curve perspective

Abstract

This study empirically examines the impact of environmental pollution on enterprise growth using data from the Chinese Enterprise Database and the Environmental Pollution Database. Results revealed (1) an inverted U-shaped impact of environmental pollution on enterprise growth. (2)After Furthermore, adding an interaction term between green finance and environmental pollution could significantly promote enterprise growth in the target and neighboring regions. (3) Market competition was found to moderate the inverted U-shaped relation between environmental pollution and enterprise growth. (4) Additionally, this relation was more pronounced in regions with lower levels of financial development.
