Social entrepreneurship and corporate social responsibility in Tunisia

Abstract

Social entrepreneurship has gained increasing attention among scholars and policymakers in Tunisia where it is viewed as a mechanism for inclusive growth. Unlike corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship places the social mission at the core of economic activity. This study explores the dynamics of social entrepreneurship in Tunisia through collaboration with the National Agency for Employment and Independent Work (NAEIW). Using a mixed methodological approach that combines observations, semi-structured interviews, and questionnaires from 45 social entrepreneurs, the study investigates the expectations, challenges, and legitimacy of social entrepreneurship practices within the Tunisian economic context.
