Estratificación territorial en la calidad de la educación superior en Colombia

Abstract

En este documento se estudia la evolución de la calidad de la educación superior en Colombia con un énfasis en la educación universitaria y sus brechas regionales a través de los resultados en la prueba Saber Pro entre 2012 y 2020. Para ello, se prueba la hipótesis de convergencia departamental y municipal utilizando la metodología de clubes de convergencia propuesta por Phillips y Sul (2007). Posteriormente, se exploran los factores asociados al desempeno en las pruebas Saber Pro de las instituciones de educación superior. No se encuentra evidencia de una convergencia global en el puntaje de los estudiantes. En su lugar, existen clubes de convergencia que estratifican a los municipios en cinco grupos de diferentes niveles de desempeno y a los departamentos en tres grupos. Los territorios con mejor desempeno se concentran en el centro del país, mientras que los de la periferia tienen los puntajes más bajos.
