Gasto público y crecimiento económico. Un estudio empírico para América Latina

Abstract

En este trabajo se evidencia la correlación entre el gasto público medido como consumo final del Gobierno General (CFGG) y gasto primario del Gobierno Central (GPGC); y el nivel de producción per cápita en las últimas dos décadas. Se utiliza un panel de datos entre 1989 y 2009, para 17 países de América Latina, bajo modelos de regresión MCO combinados no lineales y MCG de efectos fijos y variables. Se concluye que el incremento del GPGC en el período de estudio, ha tenido un positivo aunque limitado impacto en el crecimiento, con un margen importante de aumento antes de que se torne negativo.
