Determinantes de la explotación de maderables en Antioquia entre el 2006 y el 2010: una aproximación desde las instituciones

Abstract

Este artículo analiza los determinantes institucionales de la explotación forestal en Antioquia entre el 2006 y el 2010. La hipótesis central argumenta que la informalidad en la tenencia de la tierra genera incentivos para la sobreexplotación de recursos madereros, mediante la omisión o alteración de las instituciones que reglamentan la explotación forestal. De este modo, se estimará la relación entre la explotación maderera en Antioquia y el estado de los derechos de propiedad sobre la tierra. La propuesta metodológica incorpora un modelo de datos de panel de efectos fijos, permitiendo trazabilidad temporal y longitudinal de la explotación en los municipios productores. Los resultados sugieren que en los municipios con mayor informalidad en la tenencia de la tierra también tiende a darse mayor explotación forestal por la dificultad de las organizaciones para aplicar la regulación. El artículo cuantifica la relación entre las instituciones asociadas a la actividad forestal y los derechos de propiedad sobre la tierra.
