Aufstieg und Niedergang von Nationen

Abstract

Wirtschaftliche und technologische Überlegenheit ermöglicht eine Vormachtstellung, doch welche Faktoren erklären ökonomische Prosperität, und was entscheidet über Armut und Reichtum von Nationen? Zu diesem Thema fand am 23. und 24. Mai 2014 eine wissenschaftliche Tagung unter der Leitung von Dr. Wolfgang Quaisser und Dr. Martin Held in der Akademie für Politische Bildung Tutzing statt. Michael Grömling, Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Köln, diskutiert, welche ökonomischen Gründe für den langfristigen Bedeutungsgewinn von Dienstleistungen im gesamtwirtschaftlichen Branchengefüge sprechen, und weist darauf hin, dass in modernen Volkswirtschaften Industrie und Dienstleistungen im Verbund arbeiten. Markus Taube, Universität Duisburg-Essen, nennt Gründe, warum die Wirtschaftsmacht China einst hinter Europa zurückfiel und, seiner Ansicht nach, auch weiterhin zurückbleiben wird. Jürgen Jerger, Universität Regensburg und Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropaforschung, Regensburg, zeigt, dass die Politik eines Landes für den wirtschaftlichen Aufstieg oder Niedergang die Weichen stellen kann und dass der Aufstieg eines Landes nicht mit dem Niedergang eines anderen Landes einhergehen muss.
