Az önbizalom kereseti hatása
[The earnings-related effect of self-confidence]

Abstract

A tanulmány célja a kereseti egyenlőtlenségek magyarázatában egy ritkán vizsgált, az emberitőke-beruházás hatása mellett is jelentős magyarázó mechanizmus bemutatása. Könnyű belátni, hogy egy munkavállaló hatékonyságát csökkentheti az a fajta fatalista hozzáállás, amely szerint az egyéni teljesítménynek nincsenek következményei. Mivel ez a tulajdonság rendszerint alacsonyabb hatékonysággal párosul, feltételezhetően alacsonyabb keresetet is okozhat. A fatalista hozzáállás ellentétje (egyfajta magabiztosság vagy önbizalom) pedig a hatékony munkavégzésnek köszönhetően - minden egyéb tényező változatlansága mellett - magasabb munkajövedelmet jelenthet. A szerző egy olyan - önbizalomskálának nevezett - indexet dolgozott ki, amely nagyon emlékeztet a korábbi hasonló témájú elemzések során leggyakrabban használt Rotter-féle külső/belső kontrollt mérő skálára. A tanulmány legfontosabb megállapítása: az önbizalomindex többváltozós statisztikai elemzés módszerével is kimutatható, pozitív hatást gyakorol a munkabérre. A vizsgált személyes jellemzőt ugyan meghatározzák a különféle munkaerő-piaci események, annak munkabérre gyakorolt hatása azonban e hatások kiszűrése után is jelentős.* Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) kód: J24, J31.
