Quoi de neuf dans l’accès aux classes préparatoires ? Une perspective historique centrée sur l’ouverture sociale et l’accès des filles aux formations élitistes françaises

Abstract

Une des spécificités de l'enseignement supérieur français est qu'il n'existe pas un système d'enseignement supérieur unique mais deux systèmes d'enseignement supérieur cloisonnés et hiérarchisés, l'université et les classes préparatoires. Si l'accès à l'université est ouvert à tous les étudiants, l'accès aux classes préparatoires est très sélectif et reste la source de nombreuses inégalités. Ainsi, en 2018, seuls 7% des étudiants des classes préparatoires avaient un père ouvrier, contre 50% dont le père était cadre, et moins de 43% étaient des filles, dont 30% dans la filière scientifique (RERS, 2018). Face à ce constat, de nombreuses réformes ont été mises en place ces trente dernières années pour lutter contre les inégalités de genre, sociales, culturelles et géographiques. Cette étude vise à analyser l'impact de ces réformes sur l'évolution des inégalités, notamment les inégalités sociales et les inégalités de genre. Les réformes ont-elles eu un impact sur les inégalités ? Quel est cet impact ? Les chances d'accès aux classes préparatoires ont-elles évolué au cours des trente dernières années ? Afin de répondre à cette problématique, j'adopte une double approche : une approche cliométrique, basée sur une analyse de séries temporelles, et une approche microéconomique qui s'appuie sur des séries individuelles. Je montre que malgré les mesures visant à favoriser l'accès des classes préparatoires aux filles et aux enfants issus de milieu populaire, ces formations restent un système relativement cloisonné qui perpétue la reproduction des inégalités sociales et de genre.
