Abstract

L'hypothese sur laquelle se fonde le present article est que les bases de donnees sur l'emploi du temps permettent d'obtenir un apercu plus large des avantages et des couts de l'investissement en capital humain. Il s'agit d'un ensemble de donnees integrees portant non seulement sur le niveau de scolarite, mais aussi sur le temps consacre a l'education formelle et informelle, au travail remunere et au travail non remunere a valeur economique, au travail a valeur civique, aux activites de loisirs et enfin, a l'education des enfants par les parents. On considere que ce genre d'information constitue la base de la theorie du capital humain. Toutefois, beaucoup de cette information a ete negligee jusqu'ici, en particulier en ce qui concerne les couts en loisirs de l'investissement en capital humain. Cette nouvelle information est importante, car elle peut servir a eclairer le debat sur les questions essentielles dans ce domaine -- par exemple, l'appui croissant du public a l'education formelle -- en permettant de mesurer certains aspects anterieurement negliges des avantages et des couts de l'investissement en capital humain.
