The transformation crisis seems to be the result of the active application of the neoclassical model of transformation, and to get out of it, a serious revision of the theoretical foundations of development is required. The implementation of the reforms proclaimed in the Washington Consensus (late 1980s) and developed on its basis did not bring the expected results. The new development strategy for Serbia, like other countries with economies in transition, should include the ideas of an alternative economic theory, which goes back to the concept of the “Other Canon”.
