Abstract

L'intégration régionale des territoires du Pacifique (les TFP qui comprennent la Polynésie française, la Nouvelle-Calédonie, Wallis-et-Futuna) est-elle souhaitable ? En 1995, Jean Freyss se livrait à une analyse novatrice de l'économie calédonienne en soulignant un paradoxe majeur : riche de son nickel, potentiellement la plus autonome de l'outre-mer, elle reste très largement dépendante des transferts de la métropole (Économie assistée et changement social en Nouvelle-Calédonie, PUF, 1995). Mais, qu'en est-il aujourd'hui alors que la Nouvelle-Calédonie est très engagée dans le processus d'émancipation voulu par l'accord de Nouméa, signé le 5 mai 1998, et que la Polynésie française a également gagné en autonomie ? L'ouvrage publié par les Presses universitaires de la Nouvelle-Calédonie présente des recherches en économie menées au sein du laboratoire LARJE de l'Université de la Nouvelle-Calédonie.
