Abstract

Cet article analyse le processus de recherche de rente dans les petites économies isolées, en considérant le cas des territoires français d'outre-mer. Nous présentons tout d'abord les faits stylisés relatifs au fonctionnement de ces économies. Nous montrons en particulier comment ces faits se combinent pour créer des économies où la plupart des acteurs dépendent de la protection et des rentes. Un modèle théorique est ensuite présenté qui explique l'alliance endémique, apparemment paradoxale, entre travail et capital pour soutenir les demandes de protection.
