The use of maximum entropy to estimate input-output coefficients from regional farm accounting data

Abstract

Cet article a pour objet de montrer comment la méthode d'entropie maximum généralisée (GME) peut être utilisée pour estimer des coefficients input/output à partir de données comptables sur les exploitations agricoles. La méthode GME utilise la mesure d'information de Shannon comme outil d'estimation et d'inférence. Celle-ci permet d'introduire une cohérence supplémentaire et/ou des contraintes de calibrage à des systèmes d'équation. La performance de la méthode GME est comparée à trois autres approches d'estimation : la méthode des moindres carrés, l'estimation bayésienne, et la programmation linéaire. Ces différentes méthodes sont évaluées à l'aide de données comptables du RICA européen (Réseau d'information comptable agricole) relatives à un groupe d'exploitations d'élevage mixte (viande bovine/lait). On conclut que la méthode GME est une alternative intéressante par rapport aux méthodes plus "traditionnelles".
