Pobreza Multidimensional post-pandemia en una ciudad intermedia: el caso de Bahía Blanca

Abstract

En un contexto internacional que ha experimentado incrementos significativos de la pobreza y de la inseguridad alimentaria, este trabajo ofrece una suerte de ‘radiografía de la pobreza’ en una ciudad intermedia de gran relevancia para el sur argentino: Bahía Blanca. Se presentan estimaciones de un Índice de Pobreza Multidimensional a partir de la Encuesta del Proyecto de Unidad Ejecutora del IIESS, una fuente de datos sin precedentes para la ciudad por su tamaño muestral y cobertura. Se encuentra que un 28% de la población, lo cual representa a 82.400 personas, habita en hogares en pobreza multidimensional intensa a severa, de los cuales 30.000 son niños, niñas y adolescentes de 0 a 17 años de edad. La ciudad exhibe también altos niveles de inseguridad alimentaria: un 16% de la población habita en hogares con inseguridad alimentaria moderada a severa, de los cuales 17.000 son menores de edad. Se observa también un significativo grado de segregación socio-espacial entre barrios vulnerables y no-vulnerables, dicotomía que se intensifica cuando se considera la población de niños, niñas y adolescentes. Se requiere de políticas sociales interconectadas y que prioricen a los grupos poblacionales en situación de mayor intensidad de la pobreza multidimensional.
