Abstract

La crisis económico-financiera mundial que se sucitó entre 2007 y 2009 y que fue exacerbada por una burbuja inmobiliaria en los Estados Unidos expuso a los agentes económicos a diferentes tipos de riesgos financieros, particularmente se vieron expuestos a saltos bruscos (discontinuidades) e inesperados en el tipo de cambio. Esto, por supuesto, ha puesto en evidencia la vulnerabilidad de los modelos descriptivos y/o explicativos que han proporcionado las diferentes escuelas y corrientes, tanto ortodoxas como heterodoxas, incluyendo a los modelos híbridos. Por ello, dichos paradigmas deberán reevaluarse a la luz de los acontecimientos observados en la debacle financiera de 2007-2009, de la que aún quedan secuelas en muchas economías alrededor del mundo.
