La adaptación al entorno de las universidades españolas

Abstract

Con la adaptación de las enseñanzas universitarias al Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior (EEES) ha supuesto para las universidades españolas dos retos importantes: atender las aspiraciones y necesidades de sus stakeholders –estado, estudiantes, instituciones públicas, la industria en general– y ser competitivas en su entorno. Con estos fines, las universidades han tenido plena libertad para diseñar su oferta docente reformando los contenidos de estudios ya existentes, implantando nuevos títulos o suprimiendo otros existentes con el fin de competir para la captación de más y mejores estudiantes. En definitiva, cada institución ha tenido que diseñar su estrategia para hacer frente a la nueva situación en las condiciones más favorables. En el ámbito de los estudios de Economía y Empresa esta situación se acentúa puesto que, a pesar de su gran demanda, los estudiantes disponen de muchas alternativas dónde escoger ya que prácticamente la totalidad de las universidades españolas ofrecen estudios de esta rama del conocimiento. Por otra parte, la supresión de las diplomaturas ha obligado a las Escuelas Universitarias de Ciencias Empresariales a definir una nueva oferta adaptada a las capacidades del profesorado existente o bien a entrar en procesos de fusión con las Facultades. El objetivo de nuestro trabajo es determinar las causas y motivos que han inspirado las estrategias seguidas por las Facultades de Economía y Empresa de las universidades españolas en su adaptación al EEES para atender las demandas de la sociedad y a un entorno de creciente competitividad. Para alcanzar este objetivo se analiza y compara la oferta formativa de las Facultades de Economía y Empresa de un total de 71 universidades españolas desde dos perspectivas: (a) estrategias de diversificación y especialización en la oferta de los grados y (b) contenidos de cada grado.
