Fehlzeitenreport 2009. Krankheits- und unfallbedingte Fehlzeiten in Österreich

Abstract

Der Fehlzeitenreport 2009 gibt wie die früheren Berichte des WIFO in einem standardisierten Modul einen breiten Überblick über das Krankenstandsgeschehen in Österreich. Demnach nahmen die krankheitsbedingten Fehlzeiten 2007 und 2008 leicht zu. 2008 waren die Beschäftigten im Schnitt 12,5 Kalendertage krankgemeldet. Dieser Wert unterscheidet sich aber erheblich nach Geschlecht, Alter und Tätigkeitsbereich. Den Schwerpunkt des Fehlzeitenreports 2009 bildet eine Untersuchung des Zusammenhangs zwischen Gesundheit und Arbeitslosigkeit. Arbeitslose sind in Österreich im Durchschnitt etwa 20 Tage länger krankgemeldet als Beschäftigte. Dieser große Unterschied ist darauf zurückzuführen, dass Personengruppen mit erheblichen gesundheitlichen Problemen überproportional häufig von Arbeitslosigkeit betroffen sind. Arbeitslose weisen einen hohen Anteil an langen Krankheitsepisoden auf und verbringen deutlich mehr Krankenstandstage in stationären Einrichtungen als Beschäftigte. Der Strukturwandel auf dem Arbeitsmarkt und institutionelle Faktoren, wie Änderungen im Pensionsrecht und die Intensivierung der arbeitsmarktpolitischen Betreuung tragen wesentlich zur Erklärung des Anstiegs der Krankenstandsquote der Arbeitslosen in den letzten Jahren bei.
