Abstract

Das WIFO befragte im Frühjahr 2022 zum dritten Mal die größten österreichischen Industrieunternehmen zu Wettbewerbsstrategien, Wertschöpfungsketten, Kompetenzaufbau und Standortpolitik. Die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit dieser Unternehmen fußt auf ihrer Fähigkeit, Erzeugnisse und Dienstleistungen an Kundenwünsche anzupassen, sowie auf deren Qualität und technologischem Gehalt. Qualifizierte Arbeitskräfte sind in diesem Zusammenhang ein wichtiger Wettbewerbsfaktor. Der Mangel an Fachkräften wird vermehrt als Wachstumshemmnis und Standortnachteil wahrgenommen, weshalb Maßnahmen in diesem Bereich hohe Bedeutung beigemessen wird. Die COVID-19-Krise dürfte die Bedeutung von Innovation weiter erhöht haben. Die Unternehmen haben ihre Risikoneigung in Abhängigkeit ihres ursprünglichen Ambitionsniveaus beim Aufbau technologischer Kompetenzen an das veränderte Umfeld angepasst.
