Abstract

La loi de Wagner stipule que l’élasticité des dépenses publiques par rapport au revenu (PIB par habitant) est supérieure à 1. À l’aide des données de l’OCDE, nous analysons la relation entre le revenu et la taille du secteur public, en considérant les différentes catégories de dépenses publiques (éducation, santé, protection sociale, protection environnementale, défense, etc.). Les résultats montrent que la loi de Wagner est vérifiée pour les pays de l’OCDE. Elle est notamment justifiée par les dépenses sociales et environnementales.
