Pour une nouvelle analyse économique de la demande de formation

Abstract

[fre] Le premier objet de cet article est de montrer comment les aspects dits qualitatifs de la formation peuvent être intégrés dans une analyse économique rigoureuse (dons personnels, milieu d'origine, oubli, progrès des connaissances). Il y a notam­ment lieu de distinguer entre formation par études et par apprentissage par l'expé­rience. Le second objet est d'analyser les fins non pécuniaires en même temps que les fins pécuniaires de la demande de formation : l'individu demande alors de la formation non seulement pour augmenter son volume global de consom­mation (en accroissant son revenu), mais aussi pour améliorer son efficacité en tant que consommateur. Cette analyse met subsidiairement en lumière la rationalité de la « retraite à la carte », etc. [eng] For a new analysis. of the demand for education. . The first topic of this paper is the economic analysis of the " qualitative " aspects of education : personnal gifts, social background, forgetfulness, progress of know-ledge. It seems necessary to distinguish between schooling and learning by doing. The second topic is the analysis of pecuniary and non pecuniary motives of the demand for éducation : the individual demands education not only in order to increase his total consumption (by increasing his income), but also to improve his efficiency as a consumer. This analysis highlights thée rationale foc giving individuals more freedom to choose the time and forms of their retirement, etc.
