Komplementarität zwischen verschiedenen Bildungskategorien bei der Bestimmung der Unternehmensproduktivität

Abstract

Dieser Beitrag verwendet Daten aus dem KOF Unternehmenspanel, um die Komplementarität zwischen Beschäftigten mit unterschiedlichem Bildungshintergrund bei der Bestimmung von Unternehmensproduktivität zu schätzen. Wir unterteilen den Inputfaktor Arbeit in vier Kategorien: 1) Beschäftigte ohne postsekundäre Ausbildung, 2) Beschäftigte mit sekundärer Berufsbildung, 3) Beschäftigte mit tertiärer Berufsbildung und 4) Beschäftigte mit akademischer Ausbildung. Unsere Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass Beschäftigte mit einer beruflichen Grundbildung komplementär zu Akademikern sind, während Beschäftigte ohne postsekundäre Ausbildung komplementär zu Beschäftigten mit einer tertiären Berufsbildung sind. Alle anderen paarweisen Kombinationen dieser vier Bildungskategorien sind Substitute. Diese Resultate sind erstaunlich ähnlich für Unternehmen von Low- und High-Tech Industrieunternehmen. Dienstleistungsunternehmen und insbesondere moderne Dienstleistungsunternehmen weisen je nach Beschäftigten-Kombination relativ hohe Substituierbarkeiten oder Komplementaritäten auf. Auch in grossen Firmen ist sowohl Komplementarität als auch Substituierbarkeit tendenziell stärker ausgeprägt.
