Crisis y reforma de las cajas de ahorros en España

Abstract

en este artículo revisamos la reforma financiera llevada a cabo en España en el periodo 2009 – 2011, especialmente en lo concerniente a las Cajas de Ahorro. Dicha reforma, impulsada por el Gobierno y por el propio Banco de España tiene, en principio, el objetivo de reforzar el sistema financiero español, mediante un proceso de concentración, bancarización y recapitalización de las entidades. Consideramos que la reforma pone en riesgo la continuidad del modelo de Cajas de Ahorros, basado en el equilibrio entre rentabilidad y orientación social de la actividad, convirtiéndolos en bancos tradicionales y reforzando el carácter oligopolístico del sistema financiero español.
