Digital technologies and green infrastructure: Advancing a resilient circular supply chain

Abstract

Circular supply chain management is among the primary fields being revolutionized and reformed, with an increased focus on sustainability. Combining the theoretical frameworks of the resource-based view theory and the dynamic capabilities theory, this research discusses the nexus between digital technology adoption and green infrastructure in developing strong and circular supply chains. The study collected 347 responses using a cross-sectional survey approach administered online through Prolific. The findings of the PLS-SEM data analysis underscore that green infrastructure is significantly associated with supply chain circularity. Organizational agility and supply chain resilience serially mediate the relationship between digital technology adoption and supply chain circularity. Furthermore, it was established that research and development, alongside innovation, features a strong positive moderating relationship with digital technology adoption and organizational agility. Conversely, training and development exhibit a strong but adverse moderating relationship with supply chain circularity and green infrastructure. The research offers valuable insights for researchers and practitioners to develop effective strategies that enhance resilience and sustainability in supply chain operations.
