Equality, equity, and the distribution of income

Abstract

This paper examines the concepts of equality and equity in the context of income distribution. It explores the philosophical and economic foundations of these concepts and their implications for public policy. The paper also analyzes the trade-offs between equity and efficiency and discusses the role of government in promoting a fair distribution of income.
