Abstract

Rigmar Osterkamp, former Ifo Institute, looks at five issues that are particularly hotly debated between supporters and opponents of unconditional basic income. Is it financially feasible; what is its impact on the working hours that people want, can it be seen as fair; is it necessary to combat the threat of technological unemployment; and finally, would unconditional basic income be of social use?
