Population Perception of Natural Resources Management in Bamenda Health Districts in the Context of COVID-19

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has become a major public health concern worldwide, which can impact population perception and social responsibility as well as people’s quality of life. In this context, the population perception of COVID-19 has effectively changed people’s attitude, as it was characterized by a period quarantine, social isolation and heath crisis. This study aims to analyze the population perceptions of natural resources management in Bamenda health districts in the context of Covid-19. Data used here derive from a cross-sectional study conducted in the city of Bamenda in 2021. Both literature review and field investigations were undertaken using 307 questionnaires. The key findings show that there was an increase in energy consumption as observed through the high electricity bills, difficulties to manage natural resources like the forest, water due increased in-home consumption. it is recommended that sustainable measures should be put in place to effectively manage natural resource for future generation, public awareness regarding the significance, necessity, and strategies for protecting oneself in the event of future pandemics should be enhance.
