What Is This Thing Called Geo-graphy? Episodes in the Theorizing of Geo-Human Interactions

Abstract

This article describes a personal perception of one of the most important issues in the geography science: new theorizations for new understandings of the newgeographies. New theories are among the major ambitions and forces in the development and promotion of geographic knowledge. However, what principlehas there been forgeographers for theorization? Can we track a common theme among geographic theories?This article attempts to explain that there is sucha common theme. Although this theme has meant different things to different people by different representations at different times and places, it has played the role of a common horizonto guide geographers in theorizing.
