Mental Health in the Digital Age- Exploring Media Use and Wellbeing in Fiji and the Pacific Islands

Abstract

The quick digital changeover in the Pacific Islands is a double-edged sword for mental health. This article goes through the global and regional research with the aim of studying the case of Fiji and other Pacific Island Countries (PICs) and how media consumption affects mental health. A mixed-methods literature review was conducted across several databases such as PubMed, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and local repositories. This covered studies published from 2010 to 2023, which investigated digital media consumption, social media, or online gaming in terms of psychological outcomes.
