Crimen y empleo en la CDMX: evidencias y perspectivas desde un enfoque economico

Abstract

El crimen representa uno de los principales problemas en Mexico. Este estudio analiza el efecto del crimen sobre las unidades economicas y el empleo en la Ciudad de Mexico a nivel de Area Geoestadistica Basica (AGEB). A diferencia de investigaciones previas que se centran en niveles estatales o municipales, este trabajo examina microzonas urbanas, lo que permite una comprension mas detallada de la dinamica urbana. Se emplea un modelo de datos panel con efectos fijos, considerando el numero de delitos, robos y llamadas al 911 como variables explicativas. Para controlar la endogeneidad, las variables de crimen se incluyen con rezagos temporales. El crimen reduce el empleo: un delito adicional implica 0.7 empleos menos por AGEB, y un robo mas, hasta 1.3 empleos menos. Sin embargo, el efecto varia segun el tamano de la empresa. Las empresas mas pequenas y grandes parecen adaptarse mejor a la criminalidad, mientras que las intermedias son mas vulnerables. Estos hallazgos resaltan la necesidad de politicas de seguridad y desarrollo economico focalizadas a nivel urbano.
