Abstract

Une question cruciale en matière de management de l'innovation technologique est celle du couplage de l'exploration de la valeur associée à une innovation et du développement des savoirs scientifiques et techniques nécessaires à la conception de nouveaux objets, services ou systèmes technologiques. De nombreuses recherches se sont attachées à cette question, caractérisant selon des principes de couplage ou des modalités plus concrètes. Une grande diversité d'approches et de dispositifs a été mise en avant par la littérature, constituant des réponses souvent partielles, du fait de la focalisation fréquente sur un type de modalités de couplage, et parfois contradictoires quant à la manière d'organiser un tel couplage. Dans le contexte actuel de compétition par l'innovation, repère-t-on dans les pratiques empiriques des entreprises technologiques des évolutions par rapport aux modalités de couplage déjà mises en lumière dans la littérature, des combinaisons entre plusieurs modalités, souvent analysées isolément, ou encore le déploiement de nouvelles approches ? Comment ces mécanismes de couplage s'appuient-ils sur des dynamiques individuelles et collectives de compétences ? Tel est le projet poursuivi dans ce travail qui étudie pour ce faire le cas d'une entreprise du secteur des technologies de la communication. Cette entreprise expérimente depuis peu des modalités originales, et combinatoires, en réponse à cette problématique de couplage qui s'avère être particulièrement critique dans un environnement concurrentiel très évolutif.
