Abstract

Le management par le sens : mise en oeuvre éventuelle et effets potentiels Une étude exploratoire dans le secteur public local Sylvie Rascol-Boutard, Maître de conférences HDR, Université de Montpellier, MRM Résumé : Cet article part à la recherche du management par le sens, de la manière dont il est éventuellement mis en oeuvre comme de ses potentiels effets. Pour ce faire, une investigation dans le secteur public local a été réalisée, au moyen de 10 observations in situ ainsi que de 58 entretiens. Ce dispositif de recherche, parce qu'à la fois proche et distant de l'action, se prête bien à cette exploration. Il a effectivement permis de déceler des modes de mise en oeuvre du management par le sens, dont certains effets ont été explicitement présentés comme visant la performance. La fixation d'objectifs, renforcée par une reconnaissance du travail accompli ou, encore, l'utilisation de modes de communication appropriés font partie de ces modus operandi. De cette investigation, il est possible de déduire le portrait d'un éventuel manager par le sens, au service de la performance organisationnelle. Celle-ci serait entraînée par les potentiels effets du management par le sens, parmi lesquels figurent l'implication, l'engagement, la cohérence organisationnelle.
