Abstract

Sostenemos que el desplazamiento es un mecanismo para localizar a los más pobres, y que los desplazados, al buscar a dónde ir, en lugar de resolver un típico problema de optimización, utilizan la información generada por sus redes sociales y eligen el nodo con mayor poder de atracción al alcance de su red. Al representar a las comunidades expulsoras como grafos completos, encontramos que la existencia de vínculos débiles entre ellas propicia la formación de tríadas transitivas y procesos de convergencia hacia unos pocos nodos receptores. Allí los desplazados deben competir con los más pobres de las ciudades grandes y usar las redes existentes para sobrevivir. La probabilidad de seguir siendo pobres es muy alta: la posición de sus redes sociales así lo garantiza.
