Valoración de los profesores y asistencia a clase de los alumnos ¿existe relación causal?

Abstract

Este trabajo explora y estima conjuntamente dos aproximaciones empíricas para el porcentaje de asistencia de los estudiantes universitarios a sus clases y la valoración que realizan de sus profesores. Para ello se utiliza información individual de más de 2300 alumnos, procedente de una encuesta anónima realizada durante los exámenes finales en el área de Análisis Económico, de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. De acuerdo con los resultados econométricos, asistencia del alumno y valoración al profesor se determinan conjuntamente. La participación activa del estudiante en la acción docente influye positivamente tanto en su porcentaje de asistencia como en su valoración del profesor, mientras que el acudir a una academia los reduce. Los alumnos repetidores valoran mejor a sus profesores pero registran mayor absentismo. Además se encuentra un impacto significativo sobre la valoración del profesor tanto de la nota esperada como de los errores en la predicción de las calificaciones.
