Zur Weltmarktposition der deutschen Wirtschaft

Abstract

Deutschland wurde trotz seiner gravierenden Wachstums- und Beschäftigungsprobleme jüngst zum Exportweltmeister gekürt. Dies spiegelt aber vor allem die starke Aufwertung des Euro gegenüber dem US-Dollar wider. Tatsächlich hat Deutschland seit Anfang der neunziger Jahre Anteile am nominalen Weltexport verloren. Zudem sind Exportanteile kein ausreichender Indikator für die weltwirtschaftliche Position einer Volkswirtschaft. Denn in stark arbeitsteiligen Volkswirtschaften sind die Exportwerte durch eine immer intensivere Vorleistungsverflechtung aufgebläht. Allerdings konnten die deutschen Unternehmen aufgrund ihrer Auslandsproduktion besser abschneiden als allein auf der Basis ihrer inländischen Produktion. Die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit der deutschen Unternehmen ist besser als die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des deutschen Standorts.
