Abstract

Based on the panel data of 1094 enterprises in 29 manufacturing industries in China from 2012 to 2022, this study explores the impact of intellectual property protection on enterprise green technology innovation and its mechanism. The study results show that intellectual property protection significantly promotes the innovation of green technology by providing legal protection, facilitating technology transfer, and promoting market cooperation. Heterogeneity analysis reveals stronger effects on non-heavily-polluting enterprises, enterprises with strong environmental consciousness, and non-high-tech enterprises. Additionally, government financial support and the green transformation of enterprises play a key role in enhancing the impact of intellectual property protection on green technology innovation. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers to refine intellectual property protection policies and promote sustainable development. Â
