Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der vorliegende Artikel untersucht – anhand einer Interviewstudie – die Frage, ob und inwiefern die Gemeinwohl-Bilanz (als Instrument der Nachhaltigkeitsmessung und -berichterstattung) eine Wirkung auf die Mitarbeitenden- sowie Kund*innenbindung und -gewinnung in kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen (KMU) besitzt. Die Ergebnisse lassen insgesamt eine variierende, aber prinzipiell positive, Wirkung auf beide Zielgruppen vermuten. In ihrer Bedeutung hervorzuheben sind, hinsichtlich der Mitarbeitendenbindung und -gewinnung, die Aspekte der Beteiligung und Mitbestimmung im Unternehmen sowie die Schaffung einer klaren Wertebasis, welche eine Orientierung für den Umgang im Unternehmen wie auch nach außen schafft. Hinsichtlich der Kund*innenbindung und -gewinnung sind die Aspekte der Schaffung von Transparenz und, damit verbunden, die Stärkung von Vertrauen sowie die Funktion der Gemeinwohl-Bilanz (GWB) für die Sichtbarkeit des Unternehmens als zentrale Ergebnisse zu nennen. Bezüglich des Umgangs mit Geschäftskund*innen spielt darüber hinaus auch der Aspekt des Lieferkettenmanagements anhand der GWB eine, wenn auch untergeordnete, Rolle. Die Ergebnisse zeigen über die Beantwortung der Frage nach den Effekten auf Kund*innen und Mitarbeitende hinaus auf, dass die Kernmotivation zur Erstellung einer GWB in der Regel jenseits dieser Aspekte zu finden ist. In großen Teilen decken sich die Effekte der GWB bezüglich Mitarbeitenden und Kund*innen mit möglichen Effekten, wie sie in der bestehenden CSR-Literatur beschrieben werden. Es werden relevante und für die Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie spezifische Aspekte aufgezeigt, die es lohnenswert erscheinen lassen den Ansatz der GWB weiter zu erforschen.
