Developments and Complementarities in International Migration Paradigms

Abstract

This paper reviews studies of international migration in the early twenty-first century by critically examining developments in the settlement, assimilation and adaptation paradigms before considering diasporic and transnational approaches, and complementarities in migration studies. The aim is to suggest first where considerations from sub-disciplines can benefit other sub-disciplines, and second, where communications across disciplines can be extended beyond those underway.
