El desarrollo de KIBS en México El sector servicios en el contexto de la economía del conocimiento

Abstract

El artículo 1) introduce y discute el concepto de Empresas de Servicio Intensivos en Conocimientos (Knowledge Intensive Business Services), 2) explora la evolución de estas empresas de servicios profesionales, científicos y técnicos en México y 3) examina la importancia de las KIBS para el crecimiento económico. El análisis de variables socioeconómicas establece que la mayoría de las KIBS en México corresponden a la categoría de KIBS tradicionales, esto es empresas consultoras dedicadas a ofrecer servicios de apoyo, con un desempeño socioeconómico significativo pero no trascendental para elevar la competitividad de la región donde se localizan. Se detecta también un crecimiento en las KIBS prestadoras de servicios de alta tecnología, si bien su número no es suficiente como para contribuir a la innovación y la mejora continua entre las empresas contratantes de sus servicios.
