Abstract

"Räumliche Flexibilität von Beschäftigten hat viele Facetten, das Pendeln zwischen Wohn- und Arbeitsort ist zum Alltag geworden. Seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre ist die Zahl der Beschäftigten, die täglich oder wöchentlich zur Arbeit pendeln, gestiegen. Dies gilt auch für Fernpendler, die mehr als 50 Kilometer zur Arbeit fahren. Die gestiegene Mobilität ist eine wichtige Voraussetzung dafür, um den zunehmenden, aber regional unterschiedlichen Bedarf an Fachkräften decken zu können." (Autorenreferat, IAB-Doku)
