Infraestructura de salud y movilidad social en Nuevo León

Abstract

Objetivo: Analizar si la existencia de servicios médicos, desde la atención básica hasta la especializada, tiene relación con la movilidad social ascendente de la población de Nuevo León. Metodología: Usando la Encuesta ESRU-EMOVI Nuevo León 2021 se comparan las matrices de movilidad social en presencia y ausencia de servicios médicos. Resultados: La presencia de servicios médicos aumenta la movilidad social ascendente desde 6 hasta 37 puntos porcentuales, esto es, se asocian hasta 4 personas de cada 10 a un mejor nivel socioeconómico. Limitantes: Escasa información de inventarios de infraestructura de salud pública a nivel localidad desde 1970. Aportaciones: Nuestro estudio es el primero que analiza la relación entre movilidad social y los servicios médicos por nivel de atención. Conclusiones: Al ser insuficiente el número de unidades de atención médica en Nuevo León se crean desigualdades por la falta de oportunidades de acceso a este servicio, lo que repercute en la movilidad social, mayormente en las mujeres.
