Abstract

With global energy demand steadily increasing, the search for alternative and sustainable sources has become a critical priority. Among these, microalgae-derived biofuels stand out for their high productivity, minimal land requirements, and significant potential to contribute to future energy security. In this study, Nannochloropsis oculata were investigated as a highly potential feedstock for biodiesel production. The produced biofuel was characterized in terms of its physicochemical properties, and its performance was evaluated when blended with diesel and tested in an air-cooled light diesel engine. The analysis revealed that, aside from viscosity (7.54 mm2/s), all measured properties were in accordance with ASTM and EN 14214 biodiesel standards.
