Abstract

•Economic and environmental sustainability can be jointly measured by LCC and LCA.•LCA and LCC may contribute to more sustainable decision-making in winemaking SMEs.•CE strategies have a positive impact on economic and environmental performance.•Pollution prevention strategies facilitate a firm’s sustainable competitive advantage.
