How does the anti-trust policy stimulate firms' product market competitiveness? Evidence from the implementation of the Anti-trust Law

Abstract

This study explores the influencing factor of boosting enterprises' product market competitiveness from a law perspective. Specifically, this study examines the effects of anti-trust legislation, as embodied by the Anti-trust Law, on enterprises' product market competitiveness using data from 2006 to 2022. Findings reveal that enforcing the Anti-trust Law can encourage enterprises to increase product market competitiveness to avoid the effects of competition. Furthermore, productivity improvement, resource allocation, and the alleviation of financing constraints are positive driving factors. These findings provide empirical evidence for the government to implement fair competition policies.
