The unification of Germany – two decades of convergence

Abstract

The paper deals with the process of the economic unification of East and West Germany on the twentieth anniversary of the reunification. The paper outlines the objectives of the reforms in the former GDR and related expenditures. The process of economic convergence of both parts of the country has been examined through the prism of the main macroeconomic indicators, the key to long-term economic growth.
